STAUB & CO. - SILBERMANN celebrates a "small" anniversary!

Exactly 10 years ago, two long-established companies merged. With success: Staub Chemiehandelsgesellschaft mbH and F. B. Silbermann GmbH & Co. KG became the most powerful chemical trader in southern Germany, STAUB & CO. - SILBERMANN GmbH.

The two companies initially worked together in the solvents sector. The Nuremberg warehouse for solvents was dismantled and relocated to Gablingen. 16 tanks with a total volume of 1,460 m³ created the best conditions for optimally serving customers from the Augsburg area.

The cooperation soon led to a merger. "We quickly realized that we complement each other perfectly and can achieve more together," says Andreas Frank, Managing Director at STAUB & CO. - SILBERMANN. "The merger was the logical consequence."

The success of the last 10 years confirms this. The company has developed into a financially strong player. "We were able to expand our business and position ourselves more broadly. This means we are well equipped for the future in the STOCKMEIER Group," reports Andreas Frank. New product groups such as chemicals for chemical surface treatment complement the portfolio perfectly. The core business is also developing very well. Cerin GmbH (trading in secondary raw materials) joined the Group in 2021 and Lobeck Chemie AG (chemical trading in Switzerland) in 2022. "With three locations in Bavaria, one in Switzerland and the STOCKMEIER Group behind us, we are really well positioned," says Andreas Frank.

Last year, around over 50% more chemicals (184.500 tons) left the plants than 10 years ago. This was possible because a lot of construction and modernization work was carried out at the production sites. The Nuremberg site has been completely rebuilt since 2018 and adapted to the state of the art. Among other things, a tank for AdBlue® with a capacity of 3 million liters and Bavaria's only plant for pressure-liquefied ammonia were built in Gablingen. "A lot will also be happening in the coming years, and planning is already in full swing," says Andreas Frank. "For example, we will soon be expanding the track system in Gablingen."

The company has increased its workforce to cope with the additional volumes. It currently employs a more than 210 people and offers both industrial and commercially demanding jobs. "All employees must be well trained and receive regular training and further education. They must be very familiar with the substances they deal with on a daily basis. This is the only way we can guarantee the safety of people and the environment," says Andreas Frank.

The company has been firmly in family hands since 1866. It is important to the owners that it stays that way. "We are proud to have been a reliable business partner and employer for more than 155 years. To make sure it stays that way, we always make our decisions with an eye to the future," says Andreas Frank. "We are well prepared and look forward to the coming years."
